How many high schools can claim that they have a former student-athlete that won a track state championship by themselves, was a track star at The Ohio State University, won multiple Olympic Medals (three) while competing in two different Summer Olympic Games, and was drafted by the Detroit Lions? This is only listed some of his many accomplishments (see the plaque below). Not very many, but Barberton HS can make that claim with Glenn Jeep Davis.
The BHS track complex, which is named after the former Barberton HS teacher and coach, will be receiving some much needed attention over the next 1 1/2 months. The track will be completely replaced along with moving the discus area from “The Swamp” to the edge of the football practice field so the HS and MS track teams do not have to cancel the discus event because of the conditions in that area.
